ROBERTSON & ASSOCIATES FILES WHISTLEBLOWER AND RICO LAWSUIT AGAINST 1 800 GET THIN:

On January 17, 2012, the Firm filed a whistleblower lawsuit on behalf of 2 former employees of surgery centers allegedly affiliated with the owners of 1 800 GET THIN, alleging mail and wire fraud, insurance fraud, witness tampering and a cover-up of the death of patient Paula Rojeski among other violations. The lawsuit also alleges that Julian Omidi, his brother Michael Omidi, M.D., and their mother, Cindy Omidi, have violated the Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organications Act (RICO). Allergan halts Lap-Band sales to 1-800-GET-THIN clinics

The maker of the Lap-Band will no longer sell its product to clinics affiliated with the 1-800-GET-THIN marketing company. — a blow to Southern California surgery centers that have built an empire implanting the weight-loss devices in people looking to shed pounds.

Allergan Inc. said in a statement that it has "made the decision to presently discontinue the sale of the Lap-Band … to all entities affiliated with 1-800-GET-THIN."
